Description

Setting Up Montessori Environments for Special Needs Success: This course provides practical, concrete tips on how to build and tailor your Montessori environment for neurodiverse children with special learning, social, and/or emotional needs. From visual aids and sensory regulation assists to personalized materials and new ways to envision spaces in your room, this course will help you understand what you can add — and some incredible tools you already likely have to now imagine utilizing in new ways — in your Montessori classroom as well as on the playground. Information in the videos will suggest how to arrange your classroom elements to accommodate specific and general needs (that can support all students better). You will also learn how to incorporate items that can facilitate calm, and deploy adaptive writing tools and technologies to foster a successful learning home for all. Note: This course focuses on the Elementary Montessori environment, but includes some content useful to Primary and Adolescent Environments as well.

Adapting Montessori-based Elementary Lessons for Special Needs Success: Montessori educators will gain insights into how to effectively adapt lessons to support students with special needs. The course breaks down traditional lesson plans into smaller steps and offers strategies to tailor instruction for students facing cognitive, auditory, visual, emotional, and fine motor challenges. By incorporating movement, language, and interactive materials, educators will gain tips to help students stay engaged with lessons and avoid meltdowns. Participants will discover the benefits of assistive technologies, as well as the emphasis on the importance of individualized instruction in Montessori, even in our most standard lessons. Note: This course focuses on Lower Elementary Montessori lessons.
